Updating Recall Alerts

The newest alert in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen isn’t due to an issue with something like contamination, it’s misbranding that could cause serious problems for someone with an allergy to wheat. The FDA has issued a recall alert for 1,464 pounds of chicken alfredo pizza with incorrect labels from Kettle River Products. The full recall notice is right here, so either take it back to the store or throw it away.

If pepperoni on anything is your thing, head up on this alert. Margherita Pepperoni from Smithfield Meats is under recall for this unsliced, ready-to-eat pepperoni that may have bacterial contamination. Toss this product or take it back to the store. They have set up a hotline to call with questions at 844-342-2596.

The Fresh Express Salads from Dole also have been pulled from the shelves. They came from the factories in Bessemer City, North Carolina and Yuma, Arizona, due to possible contamination with listeria monocytogenes. Both facilities were completely shut down for cleaning and sanitizing. But on the off chance you do happen to buy any of these products, just take them back for a refund.

Trader Ming’s Chicken & Vegetable Wonton Soup: The reason for this recall is for misbranding and undeclared allergens. Simply put, what should be chicken and vegetables is actually pork and shrimp. If you have any of this frozen product throw it away or take it back to the store for a refund.

If you have food safety questions at any time, you can always check with the Food and Drug Administration for the latest update and tips. This page will also have the latest alerts and recalls, so keep it handy.
