WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service on Saturday issued a public health alert for certain frozen chicken and vegetable wonton soup products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.
The affected products were produced by Ontario, Canada-based Fortune Avenue Foods Inc. on Nov. 18 and sold by retailers nationwide in 10.75-ounce containers labeled “Trader Ming’s Chicken & Vegetable Wonton Soup,” the agency stated.
The products subject to the public health alert bear establishment number “EST. P-18823″ inside the USDA mark of inspection. They also feature lot code 31FA322 located on the side of the packaging.
Per the public health alert, the frozen chicken and vegetable wonton soup bowls may actually contain shrimp and pork wonton soup.
According to the agency, a recall was not requested because it is believed that the products are no longer available for consumers to purchase.
Although no adverse reactions have been linked to the affected products, Fortune Avenue Foods fielded a consumer complaint that shrimp and pork were in the bowls labeled as chicken and vegetable wonton soup.
Consumers with food allergies who purchased these products are advised not to consume them and either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
