Investigators located and interviewed the woman, a 37-year-old from Orion Township, and discovered that her 4-month-old baby boy was missing, the release said. After noticing burrs on the woman’s pants, deputies began searching the woods near the intersection of Joslyn and Waldon roads, according to the release.

“Thirty minutes after learning the infant was missing, deputies discovered him in the wooded area, cold and wet but breathing,” the release said, adding that the baby was “lying face-down.”

Crews removed the boy’s clothes, which were wet, and covered him in warm blankets, according to the release. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is now “in good condition,” the release said.

Deputies said they are seeking a warrant to arrest the mother on a child abuse charge. Investigators also suspect the incident “may involve prescription drug abuse,” according to the release.
