The 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards generated enormous fanfare despite sparse attendance at two venues Sunday night on opposite coasts amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
“The Crown” and “Schitt’s Creek” racked up huge wins throughout the night, and Chadwick Boseman won “Best Actor in a Drama” posthumously for his turn in “Ma Rainy’s Black Bottom.”
Meanwhile, Cholé Zhao earned “Best Director” for “Nomadland,” which also took home “Best Motion Picture - Drama.” Zhoa is only the second woman to win “Best Director” in Golden Globes history.
Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler maintained the biting, chatty banter that characterized the duo’s previous three hosting credits for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s big night.
Fey anchored the East Coast presentation from New York’s Rainbow Room, while Poehler helmed the West Coast festivities from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
Meanwhile, the evening brimmed with emotion and more than a few technical glitches as honorees accepted their awards remotely.
