14-year-old bitten by shark at Alabama beach

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — A 14-year-old is recovering after being bitten by a shark Friday afternoon in the Gulf of Mexico, according to multiple reports.

Authorities responded to a 911 call at Alabama’s Orange Beach around 1:20 p.m. local time, WEAR-TV reported. Police told WKRG that a 14-year-old was bit near a sandbar by Phoenix IV condominiums on Perdido Beach Boulevard.

The teen’s injuries appeared to be minor, according to WKRG. Authorities told WEAR-TV the victim received stitches and was expected to be OK.
