River O’ Green Fest Rescheduled

The Dove Tampa Bay Forecast from 10 Tampa Bay Weather has a strong chance for windy, rainy conditions on Saturday, so the Tampa Downtown Partnership and City of Tampa moved the River O’ Green Fest from Saturday to Friday, St Patrick’s Day. Events will kick off at 4 pm with the annual dyeing of the Hillsborough River green and will last until 10 pm.

County crews are on the beach every day, cleaning up what red tide has left on the sand. Our meteorologists from 10 Tampa Bay Weather report on Indian Rocks Beach alone thousands of pounds have been removed with more washing onshore. For the latest on the spread of red tide, that can cause breathing problems and irritation for anyone with respiratory issues, check the FWC site for daily sampling reports. Red tide has been reported from Pinellas county and the south in Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Red tide isn’t the only issue out in the Gulf. A huge mass of Sargassum seaweed is heading toward Florida, and the impact could be felt in the Florida Keys soon. For more on the movement of the seaweed and how it impacts both sea life and us, please check here with the latest from Grand Gilmore and 10 Tampa Bay Weather.

Imagine Clearwater will throw a big bash for the grand opening of the area’s newest venue. The week-long celebration will cost over $480,000 and will include a fireworks display for July 4th. The amphitheater has been named “The Sound” with Ruth Eckerd Hall handling operations of the 5,000 seat arena.

The Pinellas County Transit Authority (PSTA) continues to offer a free shuttle bus to and from Clearwater Beach. The buses will be available seven days a week from various locations. The PSTA Shuttle and Jolley Trolley are also included, with more information on which lots to catch the ride from. This runs through April 30th to help alleviate some of the spring break congestion.
