This hurricane season, we’ve already it as far as Peter and Rose which are no threat to us, but a new system coming off the coast of Africa may pose a threat as it heads to the west. The next name on the list is Sam. Authorities plan a press conference for later today on the remains found that may be that of North Port resident Gabby Petito, which were found in the Bridger-Teton National Forest on Sunday. Federal agents searched the home of Brian Laundrie who was with Petito before she disappeared Monday and left with more evidence. They are still asking for the public’s help with any tips by calling 1-800-CALL FBI or http://tips.fbi.gov.

COVID-19 numbers are going down in Florida but health care authorities don’t want us to let our guard down. The state is still posting around 11,000 new cases daily, with over 51,000 losing their lives to the virus. A new report from the CDC finds the Moderna vaccine to be the one most effective against hospitalization. The  U.S. Centers for Disease Control said it was 93% effective, the Pfizer vaccine 88% effective and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine 71% effective. COVID-19 deaths in Florida topped the 50,000 mark last week.

The Tampa Riverwalk will be expanded with a 12-mile loop that will let you travel along on both sides of the Hillsborough River, and into some west river neighborhoods. $24 million dollars in federal funds will be used for the project from the Hillsborough Transportation Planning Board and another $6 million from the city will create the pathway along south side of Bayshore to Tampa Heights. Work should begin next summer.

The Tampa Bucs are now 2-0 on the season after a 48-25 win over the Atlantic Falcons. Tom Brady threw for five touchdowns in the win that was Tampa Bay’s 10th straight victory. That continues an all-time franchise record and with the Buccaneers in a tie with the 2-0 Carolina Panthers atop the NFC South. Next up for the Bucs will be two away games with the Rams this Sunday at 4:35 pm, followed by the Patriots on October 3rd against the Patriots at 8:30 pm. They’ll come home against Miami on Sunday, October 10th against Miami.
