Passenger killed after vehicle strikes home, police say

CHICOPEE, Mass. — A passenger in a vehicle was killed on Saturday when the car crashed into a home in south-central Massachusetts, authorities said.

According to Hampden County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Jim Leydon, the vehicle hit a home in Chicopee. WWLP-TV reported.

The passenger was killed and two dogs were removed from the residence, according to the television station.

The animals’ condition was not revealed, and it was unclear if anyone else was in the house.

Police have not released the name of the victim or what might have led up to the crash, WGGB-TV reported.

The roads near the home were temporarily closed to traffic while police investigated the scene, according to WWLP.

The road has since been reopened, according to the television station.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.
