According to Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson, Northwood police responded to the Baymont Inn for a welfare check on July 22, the Sentinel-Tribune of Bowling Green reported.
At the motel, police found the boy’s wrists and ankles tied behind his back, according to the newspaper. Jason Sosnowicz, who is the boy’s stepfather, was also in the room.
Tabetha Sosnowicz, the boy’s mother, returned to the room several minutes later, police said.
According to an arrest affidavit, the boy had been tied up for about 9 1/2 hours when police arrived at 12:30 p.m. EDT, WTVG reported.
Officer Ryan Grames wrote in the arrest affidavit that Jason Sosnowicz said the child was tied up because he “gets into things,” according to the Toledo Blade.
Tabetha Sosnowicz said she knew the boy had been tied up, adding that the couple “normally” ties him up to keep him from accessing candy while they were asleep, Grames wrote.

“We’ve seen a variety of things that adults have done to children that are criminal,” Dobson told the Sentinel-Tribune.
A warrant was issued for both adults on July 28 and they were arrested the next day, according to the Blade. After pretrial hearings on Thursday morning in Perrysburg Municipal Court, they were bound over to the Wood County Common Pleas Court.
Both parents also were handed a no-contact order for the 12-year-old child, according to the Blade. Wood County Children’s Services is investigating the incident.
Jason Sosnowicz is being held on a $75,000 bond and Tabetha Sosnowicz is being held on a $25,000 bond, online booking records show.
