The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said Hermilo Jazmines, 74, of Lutz, was last seen at 7:37 a.m. going off to search for his ball on the third hole at a golf course in East Lake Woodlands, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Deputies later found his golf cart on the path and his putter near the water. They searched a wooded area nearby but could not find him. They called in a dive team who found Jazmines’ body in the water near his putter, WFLA reported.

Investigators believe he fell into the water and drowned. Jazmines’ friends said he liked to search for lost balls, deputies said.

A medical examiner will determine Jazmines’ cause of death.
