Elaine Hendrickson-Parry told KOKI she had been asleep on her father’s couch on May 5 when strong storms moved through Haskell, Oklahoma.

When Hendrickson-Parry and her 88-year-old father, Donald Hendrickson, went onto the front porch with Hendrickson-Parry’s dog, Luna, the door locked behind them. Hendrickson waded through the water to get a spare key from his car, while Hendrickson-Parry climbed on a rock wall to get out of the water, but Luna struggled to join her, KOKI reported.

“She hit the current that was hitting the wall and swooshed it around the house, and she was gone,” Hendrickson-Parry said.

Hendrickson was able to get up on the wall with his daughter, but the two were trapped there for hours with no way to go after the dog, KOKI reported.

Elaine Hendrickson-Parry was taking shelter on a rock wall on her dad's porch when last week's severe storms flooded his property in Haskell. Her dog Luna, however, was WASHED AWAY by all the water. They couldn't go after as they worried for their own safety. What happened next, on FOX23 News at 5. It's a story you don't want to miss.

“I never thought I would see her again,” Hendrickson-Parry told KOKI.

Hendrickson-Parry said she searched the 11 acres of her father’s property and had all but given up hope until she heard a noise on Friday.

“About 11 p.m. I was in the living room and I heard ‘woof!’ really faint and soft, and I thought, ‘That couldn’t be her,’” Hendrickson-Parry told KOKI.

The dog, who is 12 years old and both hearing and visually impaired somehow managed to find her way back home, taking approximately 44 hours, the family told KOKI.
