Actor Ernie Lively, Blake Lively’s father, dies

Actor Ernie Lively, the father of actress Blake Lively, has died.

He was 74.

The character actor appeared in films like “Turner and Hooch” and “The Dukes of Hazzard.” He also played Blake Lively’s on-screen father in her “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” films, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Roles also among his more than 100 movie and television credits: “The Man in the Moon,” “Passenger 57,” “The West Wing” and “Baywatch.”

Lively was born Ernest Brown Jr. in Baltimore. He was an English professor and had served in the Marines during Vietnam before embarking on his acting career with his first role in 1975 on “The Waltons,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to acting, he also was an acting coach.

Lively died June 3 of cardiac complications, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He left behind his wife Elain, and eight children, People magazine reported.
