The street value of the drugs, which were found hidden in rugs, is $2.16 million, the CBP said in a news release.

According to the release, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife officer identified an anomaly during an examination. One shipment, which originated and was bound for Hong Kong, was labeled as “silica gel,” which are packets found in packages that keep products dry, WLKY reported.

The wildlife officer notified customs officials, who conducted an intrusive examination that led to the discovery of a white crystal substance hidden in foil bags, according to the news release. The powder tested positive for meth and the shipment was seized.

“This is a huge seizure that began with FWS and ended with our officers finding these packets of methamphetamine,” Thomas Mahn, Port Director-Louisville, said in a statement. “The men and women at the Port of Louisville are committed to stopping the flow of dangerous drugs, and they continue to use their training, intuition, and strategic skills to prevent these kinds of illegitimate shipments from reaching the public.”
