Road Ranger Injured, Reward Offered

Another Road Ranger was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver and a $5,000 reward is offered for information leading to their arrest. The accident happened on I-75 in Wesley Chapel, the the north of Overpass Road. The Ranger was on the scene of a crash with FHP in a section of the road that was closed with traffic cones and flares when the driver of a silver or light gray Toyota Camry or Corolla went into that area, struck the Ranger and left the scene. All they have is a partial plate number of “F90″ and are asking for any information. You can remain anonymous, but call Crime Stoppers at 800-873-8477, or call the FHP at 813-558-1800.

The Bucs are handing our free swag in advance of Sunday’s playoff game with the Eagles. The cheerleaders, the Bucs Beat Line and Captain Fear will be in the south parking lots at Raymond James Stadium this Friday from 5:30-10 a.m. while supplies last. Bucs QB Tom Brady just picked up honors as the FedEx Air Player of the Week for the15th in his career, and that’s the most in league history, and makes the third time this season alone he has won the award. The Bucs start the playoffs at home this Sunday at 1:00 pm against the Philadelphia Eagles, A win over the Eagles would mean game two would also be at home.

The blood shortage in the U.S. has become so bad. the American Red Cross has declared a blood emergency. It’s the first time in history they’re done so, with many centers down to just one days supply. Hillsborough County has three testing sites now, with the addition of the newest in Brandon at Hillsborough Community College Hillsborough Community College at 10451 Nancy Watkins Drive. It was a very successful first day, with the lines shut down early. To make sure any site is open, Hillsborough County has a special page to check first. The site is free and does not require an appointment, and will be open 9 am - 5 pm, and is a drive-thru site. The Progress Village Park site at 8701 Progress Blvd.in Tampa is a walk-up site, also open 9 am -5pm daily with no appointment needed. The third testing location at the West Tampa Community Resource Center on Rome Ave., Tampa is a walk-up site that with free testing, vaccinations, the Pfizer pediatric vaccines, as well as booster shots and monoclonal antibody therapy treatment, open 9 am - 5 pm.

There are also sites operated by the city of Tampa at Al Lopez Park on North Himes Avenue and at Al Barnes Park, at 3101 East 21st Avenue, open 7 am to 7 pm. In case of the need for early closure their social media pages will post alerts.

The bullpen catcher for the Tampa Bay Rays has died. Jean Ramirez was just 28, and had joined the team in 2016. No cause of death has been released, but Rays Manager Kevin Cash called Ramirez “an incredible teammate and friend.”

You can still buy bunnies in Hillsborough County pet stores, after county commissioners decided not to the sale of rabbits. What they decided to do was create an education campaign about being a responsible owner by a 7-0 voter.
