Tampa City Council gave their approval to an ordinance that would require landlords to give their tenants 60 days notice of an increase in rents on an annual lease. If you’re going month to month, it would be 30 days. Leases already in effect would fall under the new rule.

The Tampa Bay Lightning lead their NHL playoff series 2 game to none against the Florida Panthers, and could wrap it up with two wins at home this weekend. Ross Colton scored the winning goal for the Bolts with just seconds left on the clock in the third period. Game three is Sunday at AMALIE Arena at 1:30 pm; game four is Monday at 7pm. If games five is necessary, that would be back in Sunrise, game six would be back in AMALIE Arena, game seven on Sunday the 29th in Sunrise with the time TBA.

The newly released updated evacuation map for Pinellas County will impact 93,000 residents. Pinellas County Emergency Management sent out postcards to let residents know of the changes that were made, based on storm surge models from the National Hurricane Center. Sunsets around Tampa Bay may be a little more colorful thanks to the Saharan dust moving across the state. It’s an annual event that taking place a little earlier this year. It can also make the air look a little hazier. The dust may effect persons with allergies with the usual symptoms. Another plume could be heading this way in a few months.

Visitors are returning to Florida in record numbers, and that’s just for the first three months of this year. The state reported 36 million visitors to the sunshine state for January - March, a substantial 40% increase from this time last year. Visit Florida estimates 95% of those are from out of state, the rest international visitors.

The co-owner of the Boston Celtic, Rob Hale and his wife, Karen, have made a $2 million dollar donation to the Save the Manatee Club, and Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida will each get $1 million dollars from the Fox Rock Foundation. The couple has a home in Naples, and the money is to be used to protect Florida manatees, and their habitats like the seagrass beds that were harmed by in part by pollution. 1,100 manatees starved to death in the last year without their food source4.
