Red Tide Advisories Lifted For Sarasota Beaches

Just in time for the weekend, Sarasota County has lifted red tide advisories for all beaches in sixteen counties. But there are still low to medium concentrations of the algae in Pinellas county with the most recent samples from St Petersburg to Clearwater beaches testing positive, as well as some in Manatee Counties. The Tampa Pride Festival and parade returns to the streets of Ybor City this weekend. The Festival begins at 11 am Saturday at the Hillsborough Community College Ybor Campus, at 2112 N 15th St. The The Tampa Pride Diversity will begin at 4 pm, on the corner of Nuccio Parkway and East Seventh Avenue, followed by the Pride Night party for those 18 and older at the Cuban Club. We’re still in Spring Break mode in Tampa Bay, and to help alleviate some congestion at the beaches, the Pinellas County Transit Authority (PSTA) continues to offer a free shuttle bus to and from Clearwater Beach. The buses will be available seven days a week from various locations. The PSTA Shuttle and Jolley Trolley are also included, with more information on which lots to catch the ride from. This runs through April 30th to help alleviate some of the spring break congestion.

Tampa International Airport experienced their busiest day in the history of the airport Sunday with an estimated 90,000 passengers passing through. That compared to 2019, with some 87,000 passengers passing through the airport.

St Pete City Council approved a zoning change at Thursday’s meeting that would allow single-family homes to become multi-family units for up to four families. That will affect some 3,000 properties would fall under the zoning change that is now in effect. For the complete story check today’s Tampa Bay Times.

A rough-toothed dolphin that arrived at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium a month ago for rehabilitation from an infection seems to be doing well. The CMA says the female dolphin and swimming on her own, but is hearing impaired so she cannot be released into the wild. The National Marine Fisheries Service will make the decision on what facility she will live.
