Publix Recalls Popcorn Chicken


This is one item you won’t what on the big game buffet Sunday. Publix has issued a voluntary recall on their deli popcorn chicken sold in all Florida stores between January 17 and January 31, 2019. A statement from Publix asks that you call their Customer Care department at 1-800-242-1227 or visit their website at www.publix.com. You can also reach out to the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-685469).

Reports of flu cases in Florida are still strong according to the Florida Department of Health's weekly flu review. They encourage you to get a flu shot if you’ve put it off. Here’s where you can get one.

The American Lung Association released their annual State of Tobacco Control report Wednesday and Florida received a grade of “F”. A lot of teens using e-cigarettes contributed to that grade. There are five factors that are weighed in grading and Florida had a failing grade in four out of five. You can see the full report here.

The recall on infants’ ibuprofen has been expanded once again by Tris Pharma. It now includes three additional lots of Ibuprofen Oral Suspension Drops, USP, 50 mg per 1.25 mL. The full list is here from the FDA 

Two Florida Congressmen are sponsoring a bill that would make animal cruelty a federal crime. The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act, or PACT, is being proposed by Sarasota’s Rep. Vern Buchanan and Rep. Ted Deutch from Broward county and parts of Palm Beach. The maximum sentence would be seven years.

And once again, the Suncoast Animal League will have representation in Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl. Harper made the cut and SAL will have a watch party at Fins on Nebraska Avenue in Palm Harbor Sunday. Harper will be there to help with the fund raising from 1-5 pm.
