Lightning Win At Home

Game three in the Stanley Cup playoffs goes the the Tampa Bay Lightning as they returned home to AMALIE Arena last night against the Colorado Avalanche. The Bolts won 6-2, and it’s now on to game four and a chance to tie up the series, also at home Wednesday. Game five is in Colorado, game six scheduled for Wednesday the 25th in Tampa, game seven in Colorado at 8 pm.

Gas prices are actually going down in Florida, bucking the national average of $4.98 a gallon according to AAA. As of this week, gas in Florida is at $4.81 per gallon, and just a week ago was $4.89. The St Pete Pride Parade returns to the streets of downtown St Pete this weekend, with the Pridefest Streetfest Sunday. This weekend is the finale to Pride Month and will start Friday with a concert from 4 pm-10 p.mat Waterfront Park by the Pier; Saturday’s parade begins at 4 pm will be around the area of the St. Pete Waterfront by the Pier; “Pride In Grand Central” Street Carnival will be from 11 am to 5 pm in the Grand Central District. Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Emiliano Silva and Deputy Steven Reed are facing disciplinary action after an investigation found they released information of comedian Bob Saget’s death before his family was notified. Exactly what that discipline will be is yet to be announced.

A report from the Miami Herald says Florida is the only state that did not order the COVID-19 vaccine for children 5 and under. The FDA has approved both the 2-dose Moderna and 3-dose Pfizer vaccines for children under 5. State that did order the vaccine may have their doses ready to distribute by Monday.

Beachgoers in Ft. Myers had a lot of company in the water to kick off the weekend Friday. A “fever”, or group of about 100 stingrays were within feet of swimmers. No one was stung, but as the FWC reminds us, do the stingray shuffle and keep your feet moving slowly through the sand to keep the rays away.

Richard’s Father’s Day Walk and Jog to benefit Moffitt Cancer Center had a record-setting turnout Sunday, raising $150,000 for the center. This was the ninth annual event to raise awareness of prostate cancer by Columbia Restaurant owner Richard Gonzmart, with WDUV’s Ann Kelly as host.
