The Tampa Bay Bucs head to the the NFC championship game against the Green Bay Packers in Green Bay this Sunday at 3:05 pm. With a win, they could become the first team to play in a Super Bowl in their hometown in just two weeks. Game time temperatures in Green Bay will be around 28 degrees with a chance for snow.
Hillsborough County Commissioners rejected the proposal to extend the mask mandate in Hillsborough County which would have included the use of masks in outdoor dining spaces. As the ordinance stands for now employees and customers must wear masks if they aren’t able to abide by social distancing guidelines when inside a business, but does carry an exemption for those eating or drinking.
The only people to get the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida will be Florida residents, full or part time according to Surgeon General Dr. Scott Rivkees. It appears “medical tourism” is affecting the state’s vaccine supply so you’ll now be required to have a Florida driver’s license or something like a bill with your address on it. University Mall is the newest state-run site from the Florida Department of Health and Florida Division of Emergency Management for COVID-19 vaccine distribution. It will be by appointment only with 1,600 doses available. The site will be open seven days a week from 8 am to 4 pm for those 65 and older and frontline workers. Make an appointment by calling 1-866-200-3896 (TTY 1-833-476-1029).
Acadia is back. The 602-pound, 11 foot long Great White female shark pinged off the coast of the Keys. OCEARCH has been tracking her since September of 2020 and she seems to like the Florida Keys. You can track her movement here.
There’s also good news for the endangered right whale population with a woman spotting a whale and her calf playing with a pod of dolphins off Melbourne Beach last week. Marine Resources Council Right Whale Monitoring keeps an eye on the population and apparently knows not only the mother but the calf who is named Harmonia.
