It’s just one of those things. Kids love things that are gross and sometimes delightfully disgusting. Which means they’re going to love “Ick!” from National Geographic Kids. Award-winning author Melissa Stewart has written more than 180 books for children and this latest one is just way too much fun. Be careful - adults will also want a look so you might want to get two copies. A lot of what we talked about in my interview has to do with what is eaten - and what is done with it. Ew! It’s way they dine in the animal kingdom.
After all, who wouldn’t want to know where the Bone-Eating Snot Flower Worm lives and just how the Silver-Spotted Skipper Caterpillar is able to fling it’s “frass” (look it up in the book) more than five feet. Oh, it gets even grosser and actually very educational. The animal kingdom is cool and still holds a lot of secrets that will come in handy the next time you’re stuck with something to talk about!
You get the chance to claim your own copy all this next week in Dove Morning Trivia at 7:10 am, and definitely check out Melissa’s website for another chance to celebrate science as Melissa says, and learn more about seashells, dangerous animals and finally figure out if that’s a frog or a toad. Take a listen and enjoy all the “Ick!” you can handle.
