High Temps And Crowded Beaches

Expect big crowds at the beach this weekend. Our meteorologists from 10 Tampa Bay predict highs possibly reaching into the 90′s in some parts of the Bay area. Thursday and Friday may be our warmest days, with cooler weather possible next week.

A rise in COVID -19 cases in Florida is being blamed in part on spring breakers in areas like Tampa, Miami and Orlando. University of South Florida epidemiologist Jason Salemi says the rising positivity rate is strongest among the 25-49 age group. Wednesday’s numbers in Florida showed another 5,143 cases, with the state total at 2,021,656. To schedule your vaccination, find a location and get answers to your questions please check the Dove Vaccine In Florida page here. More Floridians are able to get their vaccinations. Those 50 and older are now eligible for the coronavirus vaccination.

Residents of long-term care facilities like assisted living and nursing homes are now able to enjoy closer visits with family and friends after Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz rescinded four orders put into place last year that initially stopped any visitations from persons not living or working the homes. Those changed again in October allowing visitations and visits outside the facilities. The Florida Legislature is expected to pass a bill this week aimed at protecting nursing home from lawsuits linked to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Tampa Bay Rays will now allow fans in the stands at Tropicana Field for regular season games. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday, March 26 at 10 a.m. in the MLB Ballpark app and at RaysBaseball.com. Fans will be seated in pods of six and must wear masks. The 300 level will be open to accommodate more fans, and for now capacity will be 9,000 but could change.

On your next visit to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, you could be part the park’s testing of new facial recognition technology. It’s optional as you enter the park through April 23rd. For more details on the program please check here.
