Nothing beats fresh from Florida seafood but I do tend to buy frozen shrimp to keep on hand for quickie meals. Stir fries are one of my favorites. But I’ll be clearing some out of the freezer thanks to the newest recall.
This one affects frozen cooked shrimp sold at BJ’s (me, darn it) Costco and a few others. The issue is possible salmonella from a company called Kader Exports. The brand names they were sold under are Aqua Star Reserve, Censea, Fresh Market, Kirkland Signature (Costco), Tops, Unistar, and Wellsley Farms (BJ’s Wholesale Club).
The FDA’s site has more information, but if you have some of it - dump it. Oh, and if you’d like to talk to someone about it, here’s the fun part. Kader Exports is in Maharashtra, India, and can be reached at +91-022-62621004 or +91-022-62621009, between 12:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. EDT Monday to Friday.
