CDC Announces COVID-19 Vaccine

The U.S. Center for Disease Control has told all fifty states there may be COVID-19 vaccine available for use as early as October or November. The vaccine dosage will be dispensed by two doses separated by 21 or 28 days for immunity, and second-dose reminders will be sent to patients if necessary.

It’s official. Thanks to COVID-19 concerns there will be no fans in the stands for the first two home games for the Tampa Bay Bucs. Season tickets holders got the word yesterday. It will be the same for their first away game against the Saints Sept. 13th. When will Bucs fans get to see Tom Brady throw a pass in person? Possibly not until October. Miami is allowing up to 13,000 fans for their home opener.

Tampa Police Department Chief Brian Dugan and Mayor Jane Castor have announced a new plan aimed at improving relations between the police and the community, based on input from the community. The 17 findings are from the 21st Century Policing Guidelines with two of those already implemented. Police will he required to gain approval for no-knock warrants, the use of force policy is updated with officers trying to deescalate situations when possible. TPD will also work with the NAACP to educate officers on how to learn from the past and the city’s history of policing.

Nana is now the fifth hurricane of the 2020 season and made landfall overnight on the coast of Belize. Winds were at 75 mph at landfall. Other parts of the Central American coastlines are in for heavy rains, flooding and strong winds. Omar is weakening as it heads out into the Atlantic. State officials fired Quest Laboratories Tuesday after a data dump on Monday showed over 75,000 test results that had been held back. Some of those tests results dated back as far as two months. The five county-run test sites in Hillsborough county that have a separate contract with Quest are still using the lab. The Florida Dashboard showed 7,569 positive test results taking the state total to 631,040. 11,374 Floridians have lost their live to the virus. Nursing home and assisted living facilities will allow visitors for the first time in six months soon. Governor Ron DeSantis announced the new order Tuesday with restrictions that include visits by appointment only, temperature checks and wearing of PPE. There will be an additional screening when you visit, and no minors will be allowed.

The directional arrows are disappearing at some Publix stores. The one-way aisle markers are being removed according to Publix in areas where no local ordinance is effect mandating them. All other safety and social distancing measures are being followed.
