Say it’s not so! The next time you order a pepperoni pizza you may not be able to get what you want. The demand is up thanks to a lot more of us ordering to go and or for home delivery, but thanks rising costs and slower processing the smaller chains and stand-alone stores are having trouble. That adds up to the cost of that slice of pepperoni pizza going up, or may not be available at all. Veggie pizza, anyone? The big chains that have their large orders in well in advance so they may not have any trouble at all.
Frozen, cooked shrimp show up on the newest recall. This one affects frozen cooked shrimp sold at BJ’s (me, darn it) Costco and a few others. The issue is possible salmonella from a company called Kader Exports. The brand names they were sold under are Aqua Star Reserve, Censea, Fresh Market, Kirkland Signature (Costco), Tops, Unistar, and Wellsley Farms (BJ’s Wholesale Club). The FDA’s site has more information, but if you have some of it - dump it. Oh, and if you’d like to talk to someone about it, here’s the fun part. Kader Exports is in Maharashtra, India, and can be reached at +91-022-62621004 or +91-022-62621009, between 12:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. EDT Monday to Friday.
