This week in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen, I caught up with an old friend, and found one way to check out the best of the beaches for a very good cause. Let’s start with A Cup of Organic, and my chat with owner Doug Torres. What sets Doug’s business apart from the usual coffee show is his dedication to his craft, his staff and of course a wonderful organic cup of coffee. I first found A Cup of Organic in San Antonio, and how Doug has expanded to new locations at the Pasco/Hernando County College. Follow A Cup on Facebook and say hello for me the next time you drop by.
Now, here’s a real challenge - try to taste the best of 40 different restaurants in one week! Well, how about trying at least on or two new things? The Taste of the Beaches is returning to Pinellas County, with a few pop-ups already happening. So how do you get in on the action? Check out my podcast with Jessica Morrow, Marketing & Community Relations for the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce. The full podcast is online now with all the details. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket purchased will be donated to PARC Center for Disabilities. To find out more, and get your tickets and find those pop-ups near you, just click right here. https://www.tampabaybeaches.com/taste-pop-up.
Make that craving for grilled oysters at Ulele, a 1905 salad at the Columbia, or a cafe con leche at Goody Goody count. This year, the Columbia Restaurant Groups is expanding their month-long Community Harvest program to include the entire 1905 Family Of Restaurants. That includes all seven locations of the Columbia Restaurant as well as Cha Cha Coconuts, Ulele, Goody Goody Burgers and Casa Santo Stefano. This is the 25th year for the Community Harvest program, where 5% of your check is donated to the charity of your choice. It has made a tremendous impact the last 24 years, with $3 million dollars donated to non-profit organizations throughout Florida. Check them out on Facebook and look for my conversation with Andrea Gonzmart soon online in Dove Featured Audio and on the Dove App at 1055thedove.
And finally, just when you thought you’d had and heard it all when it comes to all things pumpkin, this pops us. Pumpkin Spice Cup O Noodles. Would you, or have you? Let me know if you did, and if it’s worth the try. I’m thinking no.
