My coworkers tease me that my vacations are a bit on the cursed side - sometimes. Well, let’s just say I made the best of this last one. My sister Tricia and brother-in-law Sal were down for a combined birthday and Mother’s Day celebration. Wouldn’t you know they came in just as storms his and their flight was diverted from Tampa to Orlando, then back to Tampa. But they made it and we met the next morning. Which is when it happened.
The good news is that I missed the last step, not the one at the top. But I fell and rolled my left ankle, and I though it was a bad sprain. Nope, a closed fracture of the fibula. So I spend most of vacation on the eight floor of their beautiful condo on the beach and enjoyed the water from afar. And kept my foot up as ordered. So the good news was I am wearing the walking boot for at least three more weeks and no surgery. But it’s so odd that all of a sudden I’m met up with way too many women also wearing “the boot”!
First up, in my doctor’s office as my nurse was giving me the monthly infusion for lupus. That’s a lot of on-your-feet time for her. And then this past Saturday while I was carefully walking through the aisles of the Wildwood at Lakeland Antique Mall, another lady wearing the boot, but she also was rolling along on one of the little scooters you kneel on. Yes, I did ask about that, but let’s just say my doc knows me and was a little concerned about me falling off it. Geez!
But things are going fairly well. I have found that the boot just wears me out toward the end of the day, so I’ve been on the down-low for the past month. Better days are ahead for a trip over to check out the new show presented by Cirque du Soleil - Drawn to Life! I’m not missing this, so yes, I will be a good girl. And all this week I have tickets to the show at 710 am in Dove Morning Trivia, and another chance online here.
Life goes on. Just a little on the wonky side with this Ann-Venture.
