High-test or decaf, we love our coffee, and today is your day! It’s National Coffee Day and there are plenty of deals to take advantage of for that first jolt of the day heading off to work. I’m a big fan of the smaller coffee shops where you still find those passionate baristas just trying to keep the business alive in our trying times. The most recent shop I stopped at was in Winter Garde. Axum Coffee has all the charm you’d expect from an equally charming city, along with a conscience. My choice for the morning was the Apple Butter Spice Latte which was not too sweet with the perfect amount of spice. I also grabbed some of their Orange Blossom Honey that they donate 100% of the proceeds from the sales to their Spoon Full of Hope Program. Thanks for the delicious drink and I’ll be back soon.

A few of my other favorite stops are A Cup of Organic. Douglas Torres that has expanded his local empire with A Cup of Organic Connerton at 20421 Rose Cottage Way in Land O’ Lakes. He’s fun to follow on Facebook, always with a smile and a steaming cup of what you need.

There’s also a new favorite in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen with The Crumb Factory on Central Avenue in St Petersburg, featuring Batdorf and Bronson coffee. They make fantastic bread, pastries so good you’ll want to move in, and owners Pablo and Felipe just plan nice guys. Stop in today and don’t leave without a bag of bread, pastries and coffee.

Now this product is something I found online and use once or twice a week in smoothie on the way here in the morning. I actually use about 3/4 of a scoop and add a scoop of collagen as well. Nice lift to the morning, extremely good taste and with the addition of avocado, banana and almond milk sets in high on the list of favs for my breakfast.
