Living For The Weekend

Happy Friday all! Let’s see what I can find to keep you busy this weekend. Since we’ve just come off National Coffee Day and still vibrating from all the caffeine it’s the perfect time to get in a few more steps and enjoy yourself.

Let’s start with Eggfest at Tabellas at Delaney Creek, 5818 Causeway Blvd in Tampa. No, we’re not insanely early for Easter, this is for all those Big Green Egg enthusiasts all in one place to compete, eat and chill out. The fun begins at 10 am winds down just in time to enjoy the sunset. A portion of the proceeds benefit Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA). For tickets just click here.

The most important thing you can do is take a walk. Just a walk, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is back live! I’ll be at Raymond James Stadium Saturday morning starting at 7:30 am, with the walk taking place between 9-9:30 am. It will look at little different, but that’s for your safety. Feel free to start your walk anytime after 9 am, and please respect social distancing. If you’re not able to join us this weekend the next walk is Saturday, October 9th in Wesley Chapel at the Shops of Wiregrass.

Then there’s music in the air with the Gasparilla Music Festival to kick off October, Friday through Sunday. The three-day event takes over Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and Kiley Gardens Park in downtown Tampa, on North Ashley Drive. Organizers require anyone ages 12 years and older to provide a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours or Negative Antigen Test taken within 12 hours to enter the festival grounds. If you are vaccinated, you may provide proof of vaccination instead of a negative test. More on that and ticket information here.

The Hillsborough County Fair will wrap up this year’s run at the fairgrounds at 215 Sydney Washer Road in Dover, FL at the intersection of State Road 60 and Sydney Washer Road just east of Brandon. Take the family for more funnel cake, rides, and live entertainment through Sunday.

On the other side of the Bay in Safety Harbor, it’s Harbor Sounds 2021 at the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce, 200 Main Street, with plenty of live music that includes Stormbringer, The BLACK HONKEYS, and more. VIP packages are available for the Saturday night event.

And of course all the spooky fun is underway with Creatures of the Night at ZooTampa, a Haunted River Tour on the Pirate Water Taxi leaving from their home dock at the Tampa Convention Center and much more as we get closer to Halloween. Pick up a pumpkin for the kids, start stocking that candy and feel free to share those spooky photos at @1055thedove.
