Fans of “Flying With Jerome” mourned the loss of the the cafe’ and bakery on Belcher Road, but cheer up! Chef Jerome Dulas is back in a new location at 2475 N. McMullen Booth Road. The same mouth-watering pastries are waiting for you in the case when you walk in the door, and for my friends who are always looking for gluten-free options, you’ll be very happy with the many choices Jerome offers now at Jerome’s Cafe’ & Bakery.
I’m not sure why, but I’ve been craving something like apple pie all week. So when I met my friend Cheri Dunbar, a very talented local artist who can take an ordinary piece of furniture and turn it into a work of art, for breakfast at Jerome’s, it was the apple pie crepes that had my name all over it. Simply served on a tray and fresh from the kitchen where Jerome creates all his delights, it was first that bite that made me smile and know it was a good day. And somehow, the last one came far too quickly. The warm apple topping, tender crepes and touch of cream were all I needed to realize I need to come back soon, perhaps for lunch.
Jerome’s new location fills up quickly, and the line was almost out the door when I visited Saturday morning. There is some outdoor seating, and keep an eye on his social media on the off chance they change hours now and then. It is closed on Sundays (we all need a day of rest). It was a delight to enjoy breakfast again, and to know another local business is back and thriving.
