I still send cards through the mail. It’s just me. I love sentiment, I love the fact that the person at the other end will smile when they open it and may even hang on to it for a while. But there is one less card this year. I lost my Mother in late March and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about picking up the phone to say hello, or look at her baby portrait that hangs in my home and wish I could let here know one last time how precious she will always be to me. But she’s always in my heart, and when I’m walking through John Chestnut Park and I see a cardinal I know she’s checking in on me.

I do have to thank Suncoast Hospice for helping us chose Hospice of the Western Reserve who was so king and loving to Mom and to all of us. My greatest gift is the small quilt their volunteers made her and it will forever have a place of honor in my home.

It was easy to make Mom smile - make sure to bring something sweet! She loved a little sundae from McDonalds. See, it’s the simple things I’ll always remember and I’m sure you’re the same way.
