Improve Your Mood With Friends

It’s one of those mornings where I miss my friends. Brunch was on the agenda but weather-related job obligations took center stage so it’s on hold. But I always have those five favorite things to thank them for in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen when I go searching for foodie fun. They never disappoint.

Like this little side trip to Lakeland for the obvious. Dessert first, lunch later. Ashley Greco and I are each other’s favorite enablers and we wanted to stop in at Black and Brew. Please, we shared the cheesecake and drew a fair amount of attention for Ashley’s skull purse. I think she started celebrating Halloween a few weeks ago. But the coffee (pre-lighten up on the caffeine) and lattes were very good and the little touch of yummy was quite nice.

Then it was on to The Joinery. Very nice location right on Lake MIrror in downtown Lakeland. The Joinery was a nice craft brew business that has evolved into a nice little food hall., but there are plans to wake those brewing vats up soon. That’s good to hear, and I loved seeing Joe Maddon’s Ava as one of the vendors. The pizza is crisp and delicious and the small is large enough for two. Love a good value and look forward to a return trip.

About that good value. My thanks to the McDonalds’s on Hillsborough Avenue in Town ‘n Country for a nice surprise. My treat was one of their little vanilla cones. But when I drove up to the window the lovely lady asked me if I would also like an iced mocha. Oh yes! That was a treat for my friends Read who was still in move-in mode and was in need of some special hydration. It worked.

Finally, I find when I’m out for Ann Kelly’s Kitchen that presentation is everything, even if it’s a bottle of cool water out on a trail when I’m on an Ann-Venture. Mother Nature makes the best place to set that bottle down for a moment and appreciate life.

Know someone who would like a little love in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen? We’re all in this together and I’d like to show off local businesses who could use a little help from their friends. Just let me know here and look forward to seeing your favs in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen.
