All jokes aside, you can have too much caffeine. I’ve been told I have to cut out the caffeine for now and that next couple of days detox headache was awful. I didn’t think I was drinking too much and really enjoyed finding new recipes and shops. But now, I’ll have to say yes.
How much is too much? I found this on the mindbodygreen.com site and it did make sense when I looked at what the side effects of what too much are. For instance a fast heart rate, feeling jittery, anxiety (but who doesn’t have that these days), along with high blood pressure, a possible electrolyte imbalance and various digestive issues like indigestion, acid reflux. There was even a story a couple of years ago about a teen who died from too much caffeine in the form of energy drinks, sodas and lattes. It was an extreme case but very sad.
Now, my version of coffee has a lot more chocolate than actual coffee, but chocolate also contains caffeine and that’s out as well. Me without chocolate? It’s not pretty but it’s necessary. If I could find a decaf version of chocolate that would make my day. But when my health is on the line, I’ll do what I have to do. Green tea and honey are high on my list for now.
I’d love to hear from those of you who have also had to cut out the caffeine and what you’re substituting. Tasting good is high on the list, please! All good things must come to an end to know but there are enough great shops around with decaf versions of what I like and wonderful herbal teas.
