So many tasty tidbits for you in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen, but let’s start with a pizza that could pass for breakfast, but not for me. There’s a pizzeria in Iowa that’s making a pizza with Froot Loops for the topping. If you find yourself dropping in to Fong’s Pizza in Des Moines, Iowa, look for it on the menu, it’s called “Loopy Fruits” and has the usual pizza dough base, but on top you’ll cream cheese frosting, then there’s mozzarella, and Froot Loops. To top it off there’s a bit of yogurt and condensed milk drizzled across the top. You also get sour cream and cream cheese sauce. on the side. Oh yummy....

I’ve seen a lot of different protein powders, but I might draw the line here - powdered crickets in Hi! Human Improvement Cricket Protein Powder. Who knew crickets are made of 70% protein? There are also other ingredients in this including an organic base of brown rice, pumpkin and pea protein. A serving contains 21 grams of protein per 1.4-ounce serving. The cost on Amazon is currently $11.99 for three servings of 1.4 oz packets.

You can tell it’s state fair time when you see an image on Facebook of a cotton-candy covered pickle. ‘Nuff said on that one.

Something definitely more palatable can be found in any of the Columbia Restaurant Group restaurants. I found this online in the middle of the night from Richard Gonzmart who was also awake to grant permission to use the photo. They’ve added a select barrel from Bacardi to their collection, and Barcardi has only made barrel available in their core markets that thankfully include Florida. The Columbia Restaurant Group is the only restaurant in Florida that will have the privilege of their own private barrel selection. The cocktail created with this precious rum is the new Columbia Cocktail called “El Viejo.” and is named in honor of their founder our founder, Casimiro Hernandez Sr. He was called “Viejo” by his granddaughter, Richard’s mom, Adela Hernandez Gonzmart.
