Cooler weather means great walking weather and oh did I treat myself to a great one Saturday morning with my friend Julia. You don’t have to go far in Tampa to find a great view both on and off the water. The Tampa Riverwalk is almost two and a half miles long with amazing views of the Hillsborough River, the Straz Center, the University of Tampa and even during the foggy morning I was there plenty great shots for your phone to share.
My start was at Waterworks Park right by Ulele, then down the walk to see rowers from the Tampa Rowing Center, kayakers, dogs getting in a morning run and any numbers of others enjoying the fresh and foggy air. There’s plenty of room for social distancing and enough coffee shops and restaurants nearby to enjoy a little extra time in downtown Tampa. Our choice was the Samaria Cafe at 502 N Tampa St. Can I just say how much I appreciated a cold latter with an everything bagel after a our long walk!
It doesn’t cost a thing to take a healthy walk. We were there early enough to grab a spot with four hours of free parking, and there are plenty of parking garages nearby. It’s also a learning experience with enjoy the Monument Trail that features thirty prominent Floridians. The Friends of the Riverwalk worked with the Tampa History Center to create the trail and welcome donations to maintain it.
The Tampa Riverwalk is one of my new favorite places to get in the oh-so-necessary exercise and enjoy what was years in the making. Enjoy and feel free to tag us with your favorite photos @1055thedove.
