I need a break for the sake of my mental health. Don’t we all? This year, in Ann-Ventures and in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen, I plan to make sure I have 22 new experiences to share with you. There may be few logistical issues due to COVID-19, but I can make this work. Where will I go? Oh, I found a few good ones!
Number one - how about a coffee house that offers ax-throwing? Love it! AX-Caliber Axe Venue & Coffee House in Lakeland bills itself as Polk County’s “largest and very first ax-throwing, virtual gun range and restaurant.” They didn’t leave out much, did they? I’m gong to head over after the show Friday to take a look and try to inflict as little damage as possible - on my myself.
Then there’s Circle B Bar Reserve which is also in Polk County and has been on my radar for a long time. I see so many interesting posts on social that have me craving a walk on the trails that promise to be filled with excellent photo ops. It sounds beautiful and not a long drive at all.
For a little longer trip, maybe a nice weekend away, there’s Falling Waters State Park that boasts Florida’s highest waterfall. Truth be told it’s actually a sinkhole that takes you down 73 feet (and a whole lot of stairs) for what looks like a spectacular view.
That’s just a start, and I’m always looking for your suggestions for restaurants to check out (mom and pops are greatly encouraged) events, parks and whatever you think is worth a few gallons of gas. Life is still good!
