I have a real case of garden envy. But it’s a good thing! A trip over to the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is so inspiring, and this year’s Festival is once again beyond horticultural belief. But what does that have to do with Kelly’s Kitchen? A lot; it’s all about the newest addition to the Festival – The Garden Marketplaces At World Showcase with a chance for you to taste the best and most unique offering of thirteen different countries, and I did that on Saturday. Now in case you think I’m a glutton for culinary punishment, not so. The perfect sample sized offerings make it easy to try as many as you want, and the selections are fun. This is the time to think outside the box!

For instance…ever thought of Tomato Wine? No, I haven’t before Saturday, but at the Florida Fresh kiosk, that’s just one of the menu selections, and it’s something I would love to use in a recipe like a stew or chili. Very interesting. But I think some of our favorites came from Japan, with the Frushi (a fruit sushi); England’s The Cottage with delectable potato, chive and cheddar cheese biscuit with smoked salmon tartare and sour cream; and an unexpected treat that I normally think of more in the sweet than savory category – from Bauernmarkt Farmer’s Market a Savory Bread Pudding with spring peas and wild mushroom ragout that was just unbelievable.

What will your favorite be? Sweet, savory, a refreshing brew, or something on the sparkling side? I’d advise a trip to Twinings for the best selection of their fine teas, cup and teapots I’ve ever seen…and did I mention their fine Hot Chocolate mix?!

Take the time to stroll the Marketplace as you enjoy the more than 100 amazing topiaries throughout Epcot. Every year they outdo themselves, and when the sun goes down and the lights come on, there’s even more to do with the Flower Power Concert Series. Thanks to the always generous folks at Disney for my Annual Pass that will have me back many more times. Click here for more on how you can have your own pass.

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is open at Epcot through May 19th.
