Sure. I start losing weight and suddenly its Girl Scout Cookie time. Oh, of course I can just say no. And when was the last time you were able to say that, especially if those two and their Cee-lo inspired sales technique.  Of course, all good things in moderation will help us survive. Right. There’s a new on one on the cookie menu this year – the Mango Cremes with “Nutrifusion.” Okay, and what is that? Here’s the pitch from the Girl Scouts:

Mango Cremes with NutriFusion™ contain:

• 15% RDI (reference daily intake) of Vitamin B1 per serving

• 5% RDI of Vitamins A, C, D, E, and B6 per serving

• Zero grams trans fats per serving

• No hydrogenated oils

• No preservatives

Serving size? Three cookies, packing 180 calories total. If you want to get the full nutritional scoop, check things out here. And like everything else, there’s an app for that on their site! You can even order online. The cookie selling tips, tricks and techniques have evolved quite a bit over the nearly 100 years they’ve been selling them, but it’s still so tough to say no when you’re walking up to the grocery store and she's right there. The one with the big brown eyes you just can’t say no to...right up front. My personal survival trick is to bring them all into the office and share the love. Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, and so many more…it’s a great way to make a lot of friends!

Feeling like you could make some yourself? There are numerous sites with copycat recipes, and last year I downloaded a complete recipe guide using Girl Scout cookies I still have safely tucked away in Kelly’s Kitchen. So as the girls say, “buy two.” And share.

WORDS OF WISDOM FROM KELLY’S KITCHEN

I think the most enduring lesson I was taught through my experiences of being a Girl Scout was that I was a member of a larger community. I outgrew my uniforms and badges years ago, but the memories of visiting nursing homes or organizing Earth Day tree plantings or my summers camping with girls from all different backgrounds will stay with me always. - Natalie Merchant
