Buttercream and motor oil. Not your usual Simply Sunday combo in Kelly’s Kitchen, but when the Daytona 500 says c’mon over and make us a cake, you say yes! Congrats to St Pete’s “It’s Icing On The Cake” for being chosen to create the NASCAR race cake for Sunday's race at Daytona. They left on Thursday to literally take the cake over for delivery to the US Armed Forces Racing Team tent. Just take a look at the design sketch that owner and creator Gina Serkez sent over to me before they left. It is huge, and the design is based all around the sport of this year’s racing team and will be surrounded by cupcakes that look like the US flag. It’s quite an honor for Gina and her team, and she promises to send photos.

   Stop in at “It’s Icing On The Cake” next week at 2435 Central Avenue in St Pete and treat yourself to something sweet.  I’m sure they’ll have plenty of stories and photos to share.
