Saturday is National Make A Difference Day. So what will you do?  Do the words “and a child will lead us” give you a clue? It does for me, thanks to two twelve year old girls and their lemonade stand which last year alone raised more than $1,000 for the Suncoast Animal League. And this year, the self-proclaimed “Sunshine Girls” Sarah Tinsley and Eleni Lambrianos, along with the “Lemonade Team” will host their 4th Annual Lemonade Stand at 497 Riverside Drive in Tarpon Springs from 1-5 pm. Just look for what will most certainly be a very long line of cars at what they call The White House on Kreamer Bayou. At last year’s Dogtoberfest the girls presented Executive Director Rick Chaboudy with a check for $1, 006.18. The girls made the paper, TV and met everyone from their neighbors to the mayor and city manager, all over a cool glass of lemonade and cookies. Why not make a difference and stop by? It’s a Kelly’s Kitchen Weekend Recommendation. By the way, when we talk about making a difference, there's no one that exemplifies that more than Rick and his wonderful staff. Please remember to stop in with supplies when you can, and join us for Dogtoberfest on the 10th. I'll be there!

Another delicious tidbit for a weekend indulgence is the 31stAnnual John’s Pass Seafood Festival in Madeira Beach. It’s the perfect reason to indulge Friday – Sunday in what we do best here in the Sunshine State – seafood in all manner of recipes. The Festival opens at noon on Friday and will include fireworks at 9:00 PM and a Halloween Block Party in the main food court from 7:00 -11:00 PM sponsored by Vino Florida, and you can top off the evening with DJ Infinite Skillz and a costume contest with thousands in cash and prizes Rest assured throughout the weekend for the health conscious, they’ve made a wonderful effort to make sure we can take advantage as well. Both the menus and food area have been expanded.

I’ll be heading to the Seafood Festival Saturday right after I meet you at Floor and Décor in Clearwater, off 19 on Drew. Floor and Decor will be giving away a $250 gift card that can go a long way toward your home improvement project, and we can show you exactly what Kelly’s Kitchen looks like in the store. I’ll have copies of Rocco DiSpirito’s new book that’s a healthier take on Italian. DiSpirito has recreated over 90 classic Italian recipes to be healthy and low in calories and fat-yet still full of flavor. Visit him on Facebook at facebook.com/RoccoDiSpirito . We’ll have one to give away each half hour, so please stop in. We'll also have a taste of Italian just in case you can't wait  to whip up a favorite recipe from Rocco, with delicious dishes from Real Mama's of Italy. And by the way, I could use some advice on what to do with my outdated guest bath, the one with the avocado colored tub. Don’t ask. I'll be asking the the design pro that has free advice right in the store. See you there from 11 am – 1 pm.
