Blueberry Muffins For Everyone! photo
Blueberry Muffins For Everyone!

Ah, Sunday morning, and guess who stocked up on fresh blueberries? Hey, there’s a hungry crew at work and it’s a test drive for Mother’s Day weekend. Besides, I wasn't able to make it up to Brooksville for the Blueberry Festival and was really craving some! I found this luscious recipe for Blueberry Sour Cream Muffins from Food and Wine Magazine online. It’s the lemon zest that really gives these that extra something. Oh, and please don’t skip that step of tossing the blueberries with the flour. That’s what helps them stay suspended in the batter, and not leave a big blue gob of goo on the bottom of your muffin. The special finishing is what is called sanding sugar -those nice, large, sparkling bits which I found at the Spice and Tea Exchange in Maderia Beach. Now that's lovely place to take Mom to find some special goodies for her big day.

With Mother’s Day coming up, I’d love to hear what you’ll be cooking for your Mom; do you have some special recipes, special tradition that you can share with us all in Kelly’s Kitchen? Send them along to me at ann.kelly@coxmg.com, and for the four I choose to share with everyone else here in Kelly’s Kitchen, I’ll have a copy of Alton Brown’s latest cookbook so you can try some new recipes. I’d especially like to see a photo of you!

Later this week, we’ll be talking to Taste of Home Magazine with more suggestions for Mother’s Day, no matter if it’s brunch or breakfast in bed - it’s all about Mom. I’m looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks for letting me know what your Mom means to you. I won't be home with my Mom (Mary Jane in Cleveland!) for the big day, but we're only a phone call away, and I make sure to let her know that I love her every day. My Mom is a breast cancer survivor, and there is a way you can help in the fight against cancer and tell your own mother how much you love her. Your American Cancer Society, the official sponsor of birthdays, is accepting donations and will send a card in your name.  Just take a look below, and we thank you for your support.

your loved one.

Celebrate all moms — the "make-it-all-better" moms, the "I-don't-know-how-she-does-it" moms, the "tough-love" moms, and the stepmoms, grandmothers, aunts and "other-mothers" who have loved and raised us with beauty, grace and strength.

Because we love moms, we invite you to honor the special women in your life by giving a donation to your American Cancer Society. Your gift will help people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.

When you make your gift online, you can choose to send a special card to notify your loved one of your thoughtful contribution.

We thank you for your support in our fight to eliminate cancer. Thank moms by giving hope for a future with less cancer and more birthdays — there is no better gift.

Did you know? Since 1991, the American Cancer Society has helped more than 3 million women get lifesaving breast and cervical cancer screening tests.
