Every Mom wants to make the healthiest meals possible, but let’s face it. Life gets in the way, between school, athletics, and everything in between. So when Heather Stouffer, founder of Mom Made Foods, couldn’t find what she considered nutritious meals that were also convenient in the stores, she decided to create them herself. Her philosophy is to take pride in providing nourishing choices for all children, young and old, and offer a break from the kitchen without a shred of guilt. I hear you cheering from here! Heather and I had a great chat about the business and how it all began, right in her own kitchen. The first place she sold her products – at a farmer’s market!

In the six years since Mom Made Foods was created, Heather has always stressed getting the kids involved in the kitchen, and making it fun for everyone. Our eating habits change as kids and it’s always a challenge, but Heather also has tips on getting us into the habit of making healthier choices. Making sure that all the meals are kid designed, kid tested, containing all-natural antibiotic free ingredients.

There is  something for every picky eater in the family, thanks to a nice selection of frozen meals like the Bite-Size Turkey Meatballs (oh, and can I think of many ways to use those!). You can also try the Cheesy Mac, and what Heather calls The Munchies – Bean Burritos, Cheese Pizza and Apple Pie.

Hungry yet? Take a trip to the store to pick up Mom Made Foods and help up celebrate National Nutrition Month with another healthy choice from Kelly’s Kitchen. We’d love to know what you think of Mom Made Food’s. And please send up your tips and tricks to creating foods the kids love, without making you crazy in your own kitchen!

WORDS OF WISDOM FROM KELLY’S KITCHEN

"The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found." -- Calvin Trillin, writer
