Say hello to the new, beautiful Travertine tile and bronze metallic medallions on the counter's backsplash. This is what we began with Friday morning in Kelly's Kitchen.

I still have a few very cool stone switch plates to attach tomorrow, and no drawer goes back until I reconfigure what goes where - like my island that is the staging area for many a Kelly's Kitchen treat! So for now...the family room looks like a yard sale. But it's done, and beautiful and I'm thrilled!

Lady of leisure on my time off. Oh, please! Here's the only thought in my mind right now. I think, no, I know I want my kitchen back NOW! Just kidding, but barely cooking this week aside from microwaving things was weird. But as of today, we’re in the home stretch in Kelly’s Kitchen. The granite counters are in, and the backsplash work is complete. We did a change from the original design, but I’m very happy with the natural stone look. Now, all I have to do is reorganize what goes back into the drawers and cupboards, get rid of or donate what I don’t need, and do a little touch up paint work which is long overdue. Paul and Henry, one of Floor and Decor’s fantastic contractors from Samec Tile & Marble, Inc put in some serious OT to get things done, and I truly appreciate their work. And we all got to listen to the Rays game! Would have been nice if they’d won, but oh well.

So Monday, when I find my way back onto the air at Magic 94.9, I will have left a kitchen that looks so fresh and new and just demands a party! But who can argue with a productive vacation like this one? The next one will be with the family in Ohio over the 4th of July and that’s always one of my favorite times. But I’ve been sharing all my photos with them...and you...so they know what I’ve been up to.

Are you thinking about doing a little something around your house? Great time to talk with my friends at Floor and Decor and see what they can create to make you smile as much as I am with my kitchen! Can you do it all yourself? Fantastic; you know with the huge selection of tile, stone and wood that you’ll find what you need, with all the advice you’ll want. Need a helping hand like Ann Kelly did? The in store designer is there for everyone, and they can make sure the perfect people come to your house to make sure your home has a sparkling, fresh look. I'll have a final picture for you once I go through the agony or re-organization and actually put things back based on how often I reach for them. What a concept!

My thanks to Mickey, Jamie, Eileen and Patty at Floor and Decor; to Paul and Henry from Samec Tile and Marble, Inc, and to Tim, Scott, Gary and Chris from Ceramic Creations, Inc. You made Kelly’s Kitchen come back to life, and yes, you’re all invited to the party!

Speaking of parties, don't forget this one. The Taste of South Tampa returns this Sunday in Hyde Park Village from 1-5 pm. Your entrance fee of $35 for adults and a total freebie for kids ten and under covers everything! There's more info online. Have a great time!
