Board Games, Bubbly and...where's my car?!

Plant Hall
Plant Hall

Hey there food fans! Ann Kelly, returning to Kelly’s Kitchen after a fulfilling, and filling weekend in Tampa. I thought my view of the University of Tampa’s Plant Hall was the perfect way to tell you how my Saturday night ended, and how the day began. The morning view was from Curtis Hixon Park at the Forgotten Children’s March. Thanks to all of you that joined me, along with former Mayor Pam Iorio and Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor to be part of a morning that reminded us of the hundreds of children in Tampa that need a voice, and the important work of the Guardian Ad Litem program. It was a bright, sunshiny morning that did get a little warm, but lucky me! The Magic tent was located right next to my favorite place in Tampa to stop for a healthy indulgence - Yogurtology! They actually had my favorite flavor of no-sugar cheesecake, and with the addition of a little sugar free chocolate sauce and a dash of raspberry, I was able to chill out with no problem.

It was a Tampa round-tripper for Kelly’s Kitchen; after our walk, and a trip home for a much needed shower, it was back to Tampa in the evening for Board Games, Bubbly and Brew at the Glazer Children’s Museum. This was my first trip inside, and can I tell you how quickly my inner child just came screaming to the surface with one look at this amazing place. Click here for an inside look at some of the fun! I can understand why this has become the destination in Tampa Bay for the family. But Saturday night was for the big kids, and a chance to sample some of Tampa’s most delicious fare. It was nice to see my friends from Gaspar’s Grotto, and their mouth-watering Cuban sandwiches. Sono Cafe’s gelato and spicy meat sandwiches deserved more than one tasting, and Cafe' Hey’s Oatmeal and Dried Cherry Cookies also found me making a return trip, which was also true for the Bruschetta Pizza from Pizza Fusion. But the evening was also about board games, and trip to the third floor was a chance to work off a few of those calories. With that beautiful view of downtown and the University of Tampa, the room was transformed into a playroom, complete with some of my favorite games like Operation, Monopoly, Tic Tac Toe, and the real topper - a photo booth that quickly became the equivalent of bunch of little girls playing with their mommy’s hats, boas and tiaras and posing for more than one shot! This is a brilliant idea for anyone’s party, and "Snapshoot"will bring a booth to you for color or black and white photos. I fully admit to three trips into the booth with friends! Check this out for yourself at www.snapshootphotobooth.com, and I know you love it as much as we did. Oh, and the "where's my car" part of the day? Returing to the Poe Garage, and not remembering exactly where the car was parked. It only took two elevator rides and a walk down an aisle or two (in heels-ouch!) to finally find it exactly where I had parked it 3 hours earlier. I think it was laughing at me.

So what’s up this week? There’s the debut of a new show on ABC, which fans of All My Children are none too thrilled about since it replaces it. Oh yes, I had the final AMC on in the studio Friday, and teared up a little with Tad’s toast. But now our friends from Pine Valley may find new life online as they mentioned on The View last week (stay tuned). What we’ll now see is "The Chew." Is this just another cooking/lifestyle show? Well, they do have some very well known hosts; chef Mario Batali, restaurateur and Iron Chef Michael Symon, nutrition expert Daphne Oz, and Top Chef Finalist Carla Hall. I have my DVR set to catch the show, and I’ll let you know what I think. Here’s the funny part; when I logged onto the ABC Daytime web site to take a look at the page for the Chew, it showed a page with logs for all their soaps, including All My Children, right along side The Chew. With the error message "this page cannot be found." Oops. No one’s perfect, right?!

Have a delicious week, and don’t forget these...Words of Wisdom From Kelly’s Kitchen:

No one is perfect... that's why pencils have erasers-Author Unknown (and my I add-spell check!)
