Run Tampa, Run!

And feel free to walk with us as well. Hello my friends. Ann Kelly, with a reminder to all my food friends in Kelly’s Kitchen, that there are some important events coming up that we need to get in shape for. We have our Making Strides against Breast Cancer/Put on Your Pink Bra 5k on October 22nd! Go to  www.putonyourpinkbra.com;  and, we have the Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run Saturday, December 3rd, with more information at www.jbrtampa.kintera.org.  In between those, there are numerous walks and runs all across the Bay area to be a part of, and healthy diet and exercise can make all the difference. Debbie Voiles, founder and coach of Run Tampa, and author of After Your First 5K took some time out with us in Kelly’s Kitchen to give us advice on how to start the training process, and what we need to do for ourselves to stay healthy in the process. Listen to the interview here! Debbie’s site, www.runtampa.com,  is really invaluable for training tips, finding group runs, discovering where to train with her in the parks (complete with maps, thanks Debbie!), and so much more. That’s where you can also check out her book “After Your First 5K.” Debbie is offering us a chance to get that FOR FREE! For the first 3 to email me directly at ann.kelly@coxtampa.com, you’ll get the online edition. Go for it.!

You can learn a lot from Debbie by joining in her Run Tampa Coaching Program; she has a free weekend group run which is a great way to meet new training partners. For those of you who are considering stepping up to a half marathon she’d like to invite you to be on the Run Tampa Women’s Half Marathon team. Catch up with Debbie online at www.MojoforRunning.com and on Twitter at Tweeting@RunTampa. We all have to start somewhere, and for me, it’s Run Tampa.

Thanks for the motivation and advice Deb. And check back in Kelly’s Kitchen soon for your chance to win a new Rubbermaid Filter Fresh Water bottle, perfect for any walk or run!

WORDS OF WISDOM FROM KELLY’S KITCHEN:

"I always loved running...it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs."

Jesse Owens
