Three St Pete Police officers were struck by a car last night as they were taking care of an accident on Coquina Key. One was taken to the hospital, the others treated at the scene. They were trying to stop the drive of a car that had come up on the scene pretty fast, and when he was stopped they smelled pot. That driver hit the gas after his passenger got out, hitting the officers and left. Police think they know who he is.

Governor Rick Scott’s plan to expand Medicare has been shut down by a state senate committee. Under the governor’s plan Medicaid coverage to roughly 1 million of Florida's poorest residents would be expanded. The committee is instead proposing a managed care system that requires patients have a copayment.

What’s described as a pretty sophisticated counterfeiting operation has been busted in Clearwater. Was turning $1 bills into $100 bills using some common household cleaners. Sheriff’s deputies arrested Christopher DiPasquale, who has bonded out of jail, and Robert Kowalczyk who is still in jail. A tip from a local business helped bust the two.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the “no name storm” that killed almost 300 people, and at one point closed every airport on the east coast, clocked winds at 144 mph in New Hampshire and even dropped 56 inches of snow in Tennessee. After all the damages were added up, it became known as the “storm of the century.”

The latest viral video comes courtesy of a play at Bright House Field that was messed up by the Hooters ball girl. It happened during the Rays/Phillies game when a fair ball was hit toward Priscilla Daughtry. She’s the second Hooters ball girl to make a mistake this year, but this one was on a nationally televised game. No, she didn’t lose either job.
