The vote was 5-3, but the 22 red light cameras are going to stay right where they are for now in St Pete. City Council voted to keep them at yesterday’s meeting. Council also brought up the $60 million dollar price tag they’re concerned about for the proposed new police department headquarters and only approved the $3.1 million for the architect’s plans for the $40 million first phase of the project.

Fred Karl, known for his many years of public service both in the Bay area and state wide died yesterday at 88. Karl was the last elected state Supreme Court justice and also served as a county attorney, administrator and president of Tampa General Hospital

Sharks are heading south for the winter and all along our coastline that’s causing a little concern. One lifeguard quoted by The Palm Beach Post said the sharks like to jump out of the water and come as close as 30 feet to the shoreline.

It’s unfortunate, but the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary will no longer be helping injured birds due to financial issues. But the Sanctuary is still open in Indian Shores seven days a week according to a letter they have sent out to supporters and continues to take care of the birds they already have.

Apparently the force is still with us. George Lucas says the next Stars Wars movie will bring back Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill in their original roles. Star Wars Episode Seven will be produced by The Walt Disney Co as part of a new "Star Wars" trilogy. J.J. Abrams is directing.
