This could be the biggest expansion plan ever for the city of Clearwater. They showed off plans for a new 200,000 square foot home for Winter the dolphin and the rest of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium yesterday, to the tune of $160 million. They’d use the land from the old Harborview Center and City Hall and use the existing CMA as a marine hospital.

Last week’s water problems have officially cost the city of Tampa over $29,000 in overtime and the materials to take care of the outage. That power failure started with something chewing through a line, triggering the power failure and boil water notice.

Fluoride will be back in the water in Pinellas County. County commissioners reversed an earlier decision, and starting today, Plant City will also follow suit with fluoridated water for the first time.

There’s a new bidder for Channelside. The Liberty Group and the Convergent Capital Partners are supposedly working together on the bid. The Port of Tampa owns the land and all they’ll say is that they are aware of the bid.

This is to say the least, a unique tryout for a potential Ray’s player. Juan Sandoval is blind in one eye, but manage Joe Maddon says he’s being treated like any other player trying out, but likes what an inspiration he is for the rest of the team.

A seven year old Belleair Elementary first grader is learning a hard lesson about playing with the phone. He’s responsible for a series of 911 calls, one of which put the school on lockdown last month. The Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney’s office is handling it, along with his parents.
