Raise For Teachers?

Governor Scott would like to give teachers a raise. The state is expecting the first budget surplus in four years, and the Governor will discuss that proposal today in Orlando.

US defense officials have cleared General David Petraeus of allegations he sent inappropriate emails to Tampa socialite Jill Kelley. Kelley also is finally speaking out three months after the news broke saying her life has been a nightmare.

A University of Tampa student remains in critical condition, the victim of a hit and run over the weekend. Police now have the car they believe struck Vincent Lanci, but are asking for anyone who knows who might have been driving the car to call Tampa PD.

A nine member redistricting commission will meet tonight in St Pete to start talking about new boundaries on voting districts that will affect city council seats. The public hearing will begin at 5 pm in City Hall.

Pasco County commissioners have voted in favor of a proposal to require a three-day waiting period and background checks for most firearm purchases at gun shows. They’ll take another look at the proposal at a future public hearing.

Don’t be surprised by a rise in the price of fresh veggies; cold weather in Florida and all across the country is being blamed for the spike. But the good news? The price of strawberries grown in Florida has gone down.

Did she…or didn’t she? Beyonce is being accused of lip-synching the National Anthem at the Inauguration ceremonies on the Mall Monday. Someone from the US Marine Corps band says she did, but then backed off that statement later in the day. Kelly Clarkson’s people said she did perform live.
