Tampa Fire’s Arson Task Force is continuing their investigation into three fires set in the same area of MLK and Florida Monday as possible cases of arson. There are no suspects, but police are trying to find someone who was seen walking away from the scene of one of those fires.

A Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy has been fired over attacking a prisoner. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri is quoted in the Times as calling it one of the more flagrant violations of use-of-force guidelines. Desmond Quinn said he knew he over-reacted when he slammed David Fowler to the ground at the Pinellas County Jail in May, after Fowler was booked a DUI charge.

A Pinellas County woman, who was arrested Monday, appeared before a judge yesterday on charges of child neglect after leaving her her 5-year-old son alone with her boyfriend against DCF orders. Christina Baldinelli’s boyfriend, David Conway has been arrested twice on aggravated child abuse charges and has been in the Pinellas County Jail since December.

Lance Armstrong has agreed to a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey where he will address allegations that he used performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling career. The show will air at 9 p.m. on Jan. 17.

A story in The Tampa Tribune says there’s a new program at Tampa International Airport being tested by Federal security officers that selects passengers based on their behavior and lets them use a special lane to more quickly get through security screenings. The Pre Check program is being tested in Tampa and Indianapolis.
