St Pete Police are investigating a fifth case of arson in the Causeway Isles neighborhood, and they believe are all connected. The latest was Tuesday night, and was the second fire set at that home. Police still have no suspects.

The Pasco County Sheriff‘s office is treating an attack on a Tampa man Wednesday night as a hate crime. He was reportedly shot in the face twice with a BB gun at the Land O Lakes Wal Mart after another man asked him if he was Middle Eastern. They don’t have a suspect but there were witnesses and the sheriff is asking anyone with information to call.

The Bank of America building in downtown Tampa was forced to completely close after a water main break yesterday. That closure includes the bank, Tampa Club and offices.

Tampa General Hospital has a new leader. James R. Burkhart will become the president and CEO in March, and is currently the president and CEO of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.

The Florida Gators were upset in last night’s Sugar Bowl by the Louisville Cardinals 33-23.

It looks like CB Eric Wright may have played his last game for the Buccaneers. He did not play last week against Atlanta and had been under suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs

Last year was one of the hottest on record for the Bay area. According to the National Weather Service we had the second-highest yearly average since the weather service began keeping records in 1890 at almost 75 degrees.
